About Us

Borzoi are our passion and hobby.  Originally from St. Petersburg, Russia, we have always kept up with the dog show scene and been fans of the Borzoi, also called Russian Wolfhound.  In the 1960-s, Irina showed an Airdale Terrier in conformation, obedience, and competed in Schutzhund.  Then, in the 1980’s, a Kerry Blue Terrier came into our lives.  Kristina showed the Kerry in conformation and obedience and then we bred a litter.  We were able to get our first Borzoi only after moving to the United States in 1989.  Zabava Borzoi is located on the beautiful Camano Island in Washington State.  Our dogs enjoy five waterfront acres with many shady pine trees, cool sea breeze, a sloped pasture for exercise, and lots of pampering and time at home.  They spend their time between lounging on the couches in the house and observing marine life from their grassy fenced fields perched on a bluff above the Puget Sound.  Our dogs love to be taken along on car rides and walks.  Their favorite place is a local coffee shop and bakery, where they get lots of attention, bits of cookies and cause a sensation month the other customers. Our dogs eat a high-quality kibble mixed with cooked meat and vegetables, twice a day.  They get all of their veterinary care and shots at our vet’s.  We health-test all of our dogs and have since our original two dogs, now for six generations.  We breed rarely as we feel it is relatively difficult to find good owners that will be active with their dogs, take the best care of them and have enough fenced area to insure the proper exercise for a Borzoi.  We enjoy showing our Borzoi in conformation and they love all the attention they get at dog shows.  Also, they really enjoy running in their fields or living their life of leisure.
