Vassia had always had a special place in our hearts.  We think that he was a great ambassador from Zabava to Japan.  He was very sweet and fun-loving.  He had a beautiful front construction, with fantastic neck and his movement was divine.  He was as sound as can be, with great reach and drive, beautiful straight tail carried low, small high-set ears, full dentition, scissors bite, large almond-shaped eyes, and a gorgeous head.  Vassia was a standout in the ring.  Vassia went to Japan at 7 months and came back at 4 years to finish his titles in the United States and Canada.  Vassia sired four beautiful litters in Japan.  Sadly, he left in his prime, following a minor injury and due to a vet’s mistake (wrong type of anesthesia administered for a leg X-ray).  His legacy lives on in Japan and here in the United States as we have his great-grandchildren here at Zabava:  Genuine Spirit JP Zabava Samurai “Sammy” and Genuine Spirit JP Zabava Sakura “Zsa-Zsa”.

Vassia’s accomplishments include:

• Best of Breed, Asian International Shows in Tokyo, 2005 and 2006

• WD, Asian International Show in Tokyo, 2004

• #4 Borzoi in Canada, after three weekends of shows

• Multiple RBIS in Japan

• WD/BOW at two BCOA TSE Shows in Yakima, WA

• RWD, Puget Sound Borzoi Club Specialty, breed specialist Dr. Jim Sillers

• 4 point major to finish at 2006 PSBC TSE

• WD at two consecutive Gazehound specialties in Canada

• Group One to finish in Canada
